i'm in new york city.
it's amazing.
i won't go into details just yet, but i love it.
briefly, i've eaten the best food in my entire life in the past 4 days, and today i randomly joined in on a protest, which included a sit in at an army recruitment center. |

PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE RESPOND: i'm writing a paper on standardized testing and its damage to education, somewhat focusing on biases in the tests themselves. what i want from you people, is your opinion on standardized tests...should they stay? should they go? have you ever noticed any biases in the questions or otherwise? what effect have they had on the educational system? thanks! |

i said, "i can't remember the last time i was this happy." but i do. it was just over a year ago.
i saw someone last night. someone i assumed never wanted to speak to me ever again. but we spoke, like normal people. it was absolutely wonderful. i missed just being in the same room as him. seeing him smile, looking into his eyes, his laugh. we left and i couldn't stop smiling. that feeling was familiar. i wanted to smile bigger but my lips wouldn't stretch that much. i didn't realize how much i missed that feeling until it came back. |

For all the vegetarians out there, as you all know today is thanksgiving. And as you most likely also know, Thanksgiving is often called "Turkey Day." Seeing as how, I nor other vegetarians eat turkey, I'd like to propose a renaming. Stuffing Day, Mashed Potato Day, Pumpkin Pie Day, whatever. Choose your favorite Thanksgiving non-meat food and there ya go, give the holiday a new name. |

i'm not sure why i'm updating. today at work, a guy named mike brought in the new ben kweller and i listened to it while doing dishes, and i got really excited, because i love it.
new york was amazing, no surprise there. got there wednesday night, hung out at brendans. thursday it rained, but we walked around union square anyway. i got sick of getting wet, so i bought an umbrella off of an asain woman for $3 on a street corner. thursday night i fell asleep really early. friday more rain. hung out at brendans for most of the afternoon. i walked around his neighborhood for awhile, got pizza and went to this vintage clothing store where i bought a pair of boots and a skirt. art gallery opening that night. then some party where i randomly ran into a bunch of friends from columbus. weird. saturday lunch in manhattan. then i went to bay ridge and visited some family. met brendan in union square, then me, him, and vina got dinner at thai tai in williamsburg. then back to brendans. left on sunday around 11. another 12 hour car ride. and finally, my bed!
i start school on wednesday. woah. |

| | Death Cab For Cutie - Scientists Studies | ] | the last time i updated was june 11th. i mentioned i was going to bonnaroo, which was amazing. right up front for both beck and radiohead. it couldn't have been better. although i did roll my ankle, and also went from a wednesday morning to a sunday night without a shower, but i came to expect the dirtiness.
since then there's been a few major events. sarah and i signed a lease for an apartment in clifton. we move in september 1st, 3 weeks and 2 days from now. for those of you who live in cincinnati, my new apartment is above bagel brothers, on calhoun, right before clifton avenue.
i attended warped tour, got my tan back that had faded since bonnaroo. i got super sweaty during motion city soundtrack, hurried over to the second half of the sounds set. saves the day, bouncing souls. more sweat during thursday. against me! saves the day acoustic set. an air-conditioned vip bathroom, sweet. the day ended with nofx and the purchase of an against me! t-shirt from one of the members, who threw in 2 patches, 2 stickers, and 2 buttons, free. nice.
this past weekend, lollapalooza. awesome. we arrived friday around 10:30, and went straight to grant park. the first show we saw was cursive. then panic! at the disco, then stars, lady sovereign, mates of state, the raconteurs, my morning jacket, sleater-kinney, death cab. then came the hotel fiasco. through some sort of miscommunication, our hotel ended up being an hour and a half away. i slept the whole drive there, and when we got there brian spent a good hour on the phone with various hotels downtown trying to find a room. finally we got the last room in a fairfield inn 7 blocks from grant park. the down side, one queen size bed for five people. saturday: we woke up and drove the hour and a half back to downtown to check into our new hotel. we slept late, resulting in me missing be your own pet and rainer maria, which i was not happy about. but when we arrived the day went something like this: nada surf, oh no! oh my!, built to spill, gnarls barkley, dresden dolls, flaming lips, KANYE WEST. sunday: sparta, ben kweller, the shins, of montreal, she wants revenge, broken social scene, red hot chili peppers, which i only stayed for about a half hour of, then brian and i walked back to the hotel. but we ended up hearing the rest of the show on the walk back. monday we had lunch at uno's pizza, went to navy pier, and the beach, then came home. nice to be back in the nasty 'nati. |

| | Thursday - Between Rupture and Rapture | ] | Last night was Thursday and mewithoutyou in Louisville. It was amazing. My first time seeing mewithoutyou and third time seeing Thursday. When I got there a band called We're All Broken was playing. I'd never heard them so I roamed around for a bit. Then, mewithoutyou. I could barely see anything, but it was still awesome. After that, Minus the Bear. People started pushing, and I got closer. I don't really listen to them, but they were good. And finally, Thursday. I got almost to the very front, but not quite. They were just as amazing as I remember them being. They put on such a good live show, it's rediculous. I think I spelled that wrong. The crowd kind of sucked though. On the way home, I started dozing off at the wheel, so I pulled over to take a power nap, but that didn't last five minutes because I got scared of how dark it was, and everytime a semi drove by my car, it would shake. So, I chugged the rest of my coffee, and sped home, playing my music really loud to keep me awake. I got home around 2:30, attempted to watch a tape of Grey's Anatomy, fell asleep after about an hour, woke back up at 5:30, had to take out my contacts and brush my teeth, went back to sleep, woke up a half hour later for school. Slept in six of my seven classes. |
